Philanthropy

The men of Beta Theta Pi have always taken our responsibility to help the community seriously. We were awarded Best Philanthropy by IFC during the 2006-2007 school year, our first of what we hope to be many philanthropy awards. In fact we have a goal that every Beta at Truman volunteers at least 20 hours of their time every year. Last year Beta's at Truman volunteered over 2,500 hours to charity. If it seems like we've set the service bar pretty high, know that as Betas we have to set it high. However, also know that many of those hours are also fun, with many brothers enthusiastically serving side-by-side with Beta Spirit!

We have several scheduled brotherhood service events every year, including:
  • Highway Cleanup
  • Tutoring at Ray Miller Elementary in Kirksville
  • Frames with Benefits!—our charity bowling tournament.
  • BETA THETA sPIke!—our annual volleyball tournament fundraiser.
  • A pledge class philanthropy project every semester

We also selflessly volunteer our time at almost every on campus event. As Betas we feel our connection with Truman, whether Greek or non-Greek, is important. Many of our members are involved with, or even lead, other service organizations such as Blue Key, Habitat For Humanity, and the SERVE center.

"Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve.
You don't have to have a college degree to serve.
... You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love."
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
